Extension & Cancellation

  • 1. Your rental of the vehicle from Alice Car Rental is for the Rental Period and at the rate shown in the Rental Agreement.
  • 2. The Vehicle must be returned to the Rental Station specified in the Rental Agreement on the date and by the time shown in the Rental Agreement. If You terminate your rental and return the Vehicle earlier than the date shown in the Rental Agreement the daily rate payable may be adjusted to reflect the daily rates that apply for shorter rentals.

  • 3. We understand that circumstances change and that You may require the Vehicle for longer than the Rental Period. If so, You must contact Us prior to the expiration of the Rental Period where we may agree or disagree to your request.
  • 4. If we are unable to agree to your request you must return the vehicle by the date and time specified in your Rental Agreement. If you do not do so, you will be required to pay additional rental charges at the time of request.
  • 5. If we are able to agree to your request we will take payment at that time for additional charges resulting from the extension of your rental. If the agreed extended rental period exceeds 30 days, you will be required to make payment for the first 30 days of extension. After 30 days, you will be required to make further payment to cover the agreed extended rental period, in cycles of 30 days thereafter.
  • 6. If You fail to contact Us before the expiration of the Rental Period that You require an extension, We may:
    • (a) terminate the Rental Contract;
    • (b) recover the Vehicle by lawful means; and
    • (c) report the vehicle as stolen.
  • 7. In case of cancellation, a full refund of the prepaid reservation will be made:
    • a. If the cancellation is made no later than midnight two (2) days before the date of your scheduled pick-up;
    • b. Less an administrative charge of , AUD 90 if the cancellation is made after this time.
    • c. Refunds will be made to the credit card that the original booking was made on.

When you pick up your rental car

In Australia, the most important documents you will need to pick up your rental car is your driver's licence and a credit card. We are happy to provide you more details about licence if required. Additionally, you may also be asked to present your passport if you are not an Australian citizen.

Can I add a baby or booster seat to my rental car booking in Australia?

Yes. Baby seats and child booster seats can be requested during the booking process if pick-up is more than 48 hours away. If you have already booked your rental car, you will need to contact our Customer Care Team. You can also reply to the confirmation email advising your child's age.

When will my security bond be returned?

Your security bond will be returned to your credit card after your rental concludes provided there are no extra charges. The amount of time it takes for your bond to be returned can be from 7-10 working days.

Do I require a credit card to hire a car in Australia?

Yes. You will be required to present your credit card at the rental counter when you collect your hire car. The credit card holder will need to be present to sign the rental agreement.

Will my overseas drivers licence work in Australia?

If your drivers licence is not completely in English, it will need to be accompanied by an International Drivers Permit or Official Translation. All documents must be original. Photocopies are not accepted.

Can anyone drive the vehicle in Australia?

We do allow additional drivers, each with varied policies and charges. Additional drivers will must present their drivers licence at pickup. Please enquire for specific charges for additional drivers and Terms and Conditions.

Can I smoke in my rental vehicle in Australia?

Smoking is not permitted in rental vehicles in Australia. It is an offence in some Australian states to smoke in a vehicle where some passengers are under 18 years of age.
